For the sixth year running a festive blend of lights, music and shoppers brought a fairy-tale atmosphere to Fountains Square during the wonderfully named Cold Hands, Warm Heart annual New Year fair which opened in central Baku on 1 December 2018 and lasted until 6 January 2019. Each year this charitable project – whose proceeds go towards treating children suffering various diseases – gets a little bigger and the lastest edition, organised by the Nargis Fund, featured 47 huts selling jewelry, clothes, books and sweets. Among the stalls were some of the country’s most exciting national brands, such as the furniture company Chelebi, the sweet maker Can, the tea supplier Beta and the book chain Libraff. A number of cosy cafés served up cuisine from Azerbaijan and abroad and a lively concert programme kept guests entertained. We sent our photographer along to capture the atmosphere.
